An aircraft type not seen before in Antipodean skies recently arrived in Sydney, opening a new chapter in a 33 year old romance between Captain Keith Clarke and the Percival Piston Provost. Looking somewhat like a winjeel on steroids, the Provost saw service with a number of Air Forces before becoming a practical warbird, sought after for its fine flying characteristics. In this article we background this interesting aircraft whilst Keith Clarke presents us with an insight into his own relationship with the Piston Provost. |

Much has been written about the ill fated flight of six P-39F Aircobras which were forced down on Cape York Peninsula in 1942. The efforts of Syd Beck of Mareeba to restore one of the P-39s recovered has been well recorded, but the second machine seems to have been all but forgotten. Richard Rudd travelled to Mosman in Northern Queensland recently to track down the other Cobra. |

Following its lengthy restoration by the Sanders Aircraft organisation in the United States and subsequent arrival in Australia in 1988 Guido and Lynette Zuccoli's Fiat G-59-4B has always attracted considerable interest wherever it has appeared for public scruitiny. One of just two of the type still flying in the world today this rare Italian thoroughbred has graced the Australian warbird scene in the distinctive markings of the Italian Air Force.
